Victoria Chow, BM MM NCTM
Director
Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Ms. Victoria Shuk Yan Chow, BM, MM, NCTM, is thrilled to be the Director of Piano Secondary and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Piano at her alma mater, Westminster Choir College at Rider University.
As a member for both NJMTA and MTNA, Ex-Officio President and Festival Chairperson of Piano Teachers Forum of Central New Jersey, Ms. Chow’s private students are highly involved in performing. Her students have been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center in recognition of their highest state scores for the Royal Conservatory of Music, Rising Talents Music Fest, Golden Key and Crescendo Music Festival. Many of her students have been invited to accompany for their school choirs, and several of her students are involved in community outreach by performing at assisted living centers and rehabilitation hospitals.
Ms. Chow has had the honor of serving as an adjudicator for both NJMTA and the Westminster Conservatory Concerto Competition. Ms. Chow was recently selected as the recipient of the “Steinway Top Teacher Award” for her hard work and dedication to music education in 2021. Ms. Chow has had the opportunity to co-teach Piano Pedagogy Courses at Rider University and lecture for the Piano Teachers Forum of Central New Jersey.
This Summer, Ms. Chow is ecstatic to be the sole proprietor and Director of Middle School Piano Camp in Princeton Junction, NJ. Check us out at: https://pianocampnj.com. In 2019, she directed the return of Middle School Piano Camp at Rider University.
Ms. Chow has tenured as Church Musician at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Princeton Junction, NJ since 2006. She has also been the Collaborative Artist at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton in Princeton, NJ since 2016. She also made her debut as a concerto pianist with the Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra in 2017.
David Zas, BM MEd
Co-Director
David is an educator that works in Bridgewater-Raritan public schools. He teaches choir and general music to grades 5-7. Other accolades include multi-grant recipients of HIPP Foundation through New Jersey Education Association and interviews with television series, Classroom Close-Up. On top of his busy schedule, he manages a small private piano studio and directs musical productions in the area. He received his master’s in Education from National University and holds a bachelor’s degree music education from Westminster Choir College of Rider University.
Devin Carr
Chef
Devin Carr is a Chef/Owner of Wade & Harvest (www.wadeandharvest.com Instagram:@devincarrcooks) and has been a personal chef for 4 years. He attended Westminster Choir College and studied Music Education and Music Theater. Although he was passionate about music he found that his calling was for Culinary Arts.
He is currently attending Mercer County Community College pursuing his degree in Culinology, a program that blends culinary arts and food science. Afterwards he will be attending Rutgers University to pursue a bachelor’s in food science. Devin has spent years working in various area of the food industry. Including manager for 5 years of Savory Spice Shop in Princeton, New Jersey and chef at vegan restaurant Sprig & Vine in New Hope, PA.
Annie O’Donnell
Yoga Instructor
Annie O’Donnell has been teaching fifth grade in West Windsor-Plainsboro for eight years. In 2017 she completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training at YogaSoul. Since then she has been sharing her love of yoga and mindfulness in the classroom and in the community. She taught a weekly yoga class for tweens ages 10-14, in addition to teaching various ages at summer camps, after school programs and even a birthday party! In her classes the children will practice mindfulness, breathing, yoga postures and relaxation techniques – all in a fun and supportive environment.
Lisa Gombas
Art Instructor
Lisa Gombas is a seasoned visual arts educator with more than 13 years of experience. For the last 7 years, she has taught art to grades 6-7 at Hammarskjold Middle School in East Brunswick, NJ. She received her Masters in Fine Arts Education from Kean University in 2010, and is an active member of both the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and Art Educators of New Jersey (AENJ). Her middle school students have had their work exhibited at the Rutgers Art Library, as well as Kean University’s Human Rights Institute Gallery.
Ms. Gombas couldn’t imagine a life without imparting artistic direction and inspiration to anyone interested in exploring their creativity, and she’s very excited to share her skills with the children at Piano Camp NJ!
