Camp Activities

Camp Activities

July 25-29, 9am-4pm

Activities at camp vary from piano topics, to broad musical topics, to artistic and performance. They will get a chance to meet students just like themselves from other cities that love music just like they do! Students who are enrolled are expected to be entering grades 5-8 (ages 10-14) at school and should be taking piano lessons.

Campers will arrive with a solo piano piece that is learned almost all through or in its entirety. They will learn techniques to polish and prepare the piece for performance during the week. Memorization is optional and can be considered as well.

Campers will be paired up and together will learn a duet. They will be coached on ensemble practice and performance skills. These pieces will be polished and performed at the Friday evening’s recital. Students will also be in composition classes. They will learn how to notate music and compose their own works. Students will have an opportunity to perform their compositions on Thursday evening. There will be designated practice times (coached and independent) built into the schedule.

While we are busy working on our art, we certainly take time socialize! Past events have included pizza parties, ice cream socials and a movie night.
